What you need to know about your stay with us…

TRANSPORTATION:  AIRPORT – Salt Lake City (SLC)

Based on times of your flights, we might be able to get you or drop you off so once we get your flight details we can work that out.  Otherwise, there is an Express shuttle service that will bring you right to our door.  It is $27 for 1 person and $38 for 2 people. Call them at 1-800-397-0773 or reserve here

UBER/Lyft – Based on availability ridesharing is usually $25-35 for your trip.

Car Rentals – Groups of 3 or more should discuss who will rent and share a vehicle so you can get to and from the mountain and dinining out at restaurants. You should get an AWD or 4WD vehicle (not necessarily a SUV) in case there is snow or they won’t let you up to the mountains.  If you get a regular car and it snows heavily, the canyon will be restricted, you can drive to the lot at the entrance of the canyon and take the bus up – they run every 15 min. and it is about $7pp each for a RT ticket. We have found the best pricing for rentals is on http://carrentals.com.

PARKING:

Parking is now restricted at all four Cottonwood Resorts.

  • Alta is free parking, however – they will turn your car around if parking is full.
  • Snowbird is free parking, but requires reservations in advance. You can reserve via your phone on the ParkWhiz app
  • Solitude has paid parking per day based on the number of people you have in the car. $20 for 1 person, $15 for 2, and $10 for 3 or more.
  • Brighton is free parking, however – the lot fills up quickly and you will be turned around if parking is full.

SKI RENTALS:

We have worked out a deal with Ski and See. 25% off your rentals. Click here and follow the instructions. A credit card is required to reserve but will not be charged until pick-up. Choose the Sandy location (G) for basic rentals or for Demo or Expert skis choose location (A).

LIFT TICKETS:

On many days we play the location by ear, so it’s best to buy discount tickets for most mountains at the local ski shops. If you are doing a longer stay of 4-7 days, you can go to http://www.visitsaltlake.com and buy a salt lake super pass which is a discounted pass that is good at Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, and Solitude (the 4 mountains near us).

We do NOT recommend using Liftopia or any online service. The local ski shops are cheaper and offer you more flexibility. If you’ve bought an online ticket and the canyon is closed for avalanche danger – you lose your money.

Season Passes: Ikon Pass and Mountain Collective are good at Alta, Snowbird, Solitude, Brighton, and Deer Valley.
Epic Pass is good at Park City, Canyons, and Snowbasin. We are friends with the Powder Mtn owners and have
discounted tickets for there as long as we reserve the night before.

Fifth and Sixth Grade Passport – Ski Utah offers a special pass for 5th and 6th graders for $45 and special discounts for parents skiing with them – for more information click here.

FOOD:

For breakfast we have continental breakfast available at the house.  We will have eggs or pancake ingredients available in the event that anyone wants to cook. Other options are available either on the mountain or close by if you want to have a hot breakfast out.  Lunch is usually consumed on the mountain.
In the event that you decide to stay home we will have some selection of lunch foods available to you.

For dinner, We have assembled a dining guide that contains many of our favorite restaurants in the SLC area. We have some great food here with something for everyone. Sometimes we cook in, or order in depending on how everyone is feeling after a long day of activity.

There is a Whole Foods and a Trader Joe’s about 5 miles away in Cottonwood Heights, and a Smith’s supermarket about 1 mile from the house.

ALCOHOL:

In addition to a fully stocked bar, we usually have a good supply of wine and beer at the house. If you’d like to get something special for yourself there are DABC (state liquor) stores located at 1863 E 7000 S and 125 W 9000 S.
You can buy regular strength beer at any Supermarket – High alcohol beer is sold at the state liquor stores.

Despite what you’ve heard, you’ll have very little trouble getting a drink in Utah.  There are lots of bars and restaurants around.

ENTERTAINMENT:

We have a small gym in the house – treadmill, some hand weights, workout videos, and the WII Fit.
If you want to splurge there is the Cliff Spa at Snowbird or if you want an inexpensive $39 hour long massage there is Massage Envy just a short drive away.

In addition, http://www.skiutah.com/winter/index.html can be helpful for other information about things going on here and at the mountains. Our resorts annually host the Dew Tour, FIS World Cup, Freeskiing World Championships, and many other winter sporting events.

People say Utah is boring compared to other ski destinations. That’s old news. In 2009, Utah changed their alcohol laws so that they are similar to those of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania. It’s not New York City, but there are plenty of places to go out and have fun.  There are plenty of bars and dance clubs both locally and in Downtown. You can go to dueling pianos, karaoke, see live bands, go dancing, or just hang out and watch a football game.

If you feel like taking a day off from skiing you can choose from some of the following activities:
Snowmobiling, Hot Springs, Indoor Skydiving, Living Planet Aquarium, Natural History Museum, Hogle Zoo, Indoor Go Karts, Laser Tag, 3 Imax theaters, Mini Golf, Bowling, Antiquing and Shopping, Hill Aerospace Museum, Arcades, and Horseback Riding.

BEDS:

Everyone gets their own bed.  We do have 5.5 bathrooms so it should allow everyone to spread out. When you leave, we ask that you strip the bed of your linens so that we can wash them for the next guests.

MISCELLANEOUS

We have a ski room off the garage for your skis, boots and helmets.  We ask that everyone keep their equipment in there and not in their rooms.  We have a multi-boot dryer available in that room and also outlets for your own personal boot dryers in there as well. If you don’t want to bring your equipment along, we have discount coupons for ski rentals at many of the major shops.

Shoes are to be taken off before you enter the house so if you don’t like walking barefoot please bring slippers, flip flops or fuzzy socks.

We have a hot tub available so bring your swim wear.  Beers can be consumed there but be sure to use one of the plastic cups we will leave on the counter.  We also have some large beach towels for you to take to the hot tub so there’s no need to bring your own towels.

We supply toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, lotion) so no need to bring that unless you want to.  We have 2 hair dryers in the house as well if you choose not to bring your own.

That’s about it.  If you have any questions or need any thing else let us know.  We are looking forward to having you join us for a fun filled time.
